As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, in the UK, it is generally recommended to burn only well-seasoned, dry wood in a log burner or wood-burning stove. Burning Logs for sale -kiln dried wood that is not properly seasoned can result in several issues, including:

Reduced Efficiency: Wet or unseasoned wood contains a significant amount of moisture, which can reduce the efficiency of your wood burner. Much of the heat produced by the fire is used to evaporate the moisture in the wood, leaving less heat available for warming your home.

Increased Emissions: Burning wet wood can produce more smoke and particulate matter, which can contribute to air pollution and may have health implications. The UK has implemented regulations to reduce emissions from domestic burning, and burning wet wood can lead to non-compliance.

Creosote Buildup: Burning wet wood can lead to the buildup of creosote in the chimney or flue, which is highly flammable and can pose a fire hazard.

Shortened Appliance Lifespan: The moisture in wet wood can lead to corrosion and damage to your wood-burning appliance over time, potentially shortening its lifespan.

To ensure safe and efficient burning, it is advisable to use dry, seasoned wood with a moisture content of around 20% or less. Kiln-dried wood is one option, but you can also season wood yourself by storing it in a dry, well-ventilated area for at least 6-12 months to allow the moisture content to reduce naturally.

Please note that regulations and recommendations may change over time, so it’s a good idea to check with your local authorities or consult the latest guidance from relevant government agencies or fireplace manufacturers for the most up-to-date information on burning wood in the UK.
